It’s a little unusual to have a rising star still very early in her high school career be nominated as a Hot Shot, but as Kinkaid Freshman Lexie Ammons closes out her first year, she’s wasted no time. Lexie has literally hit the ground running by making the Varsity track team along with receiving other awards and accomplishments. Breaking the school record for in the 3200 meter race, Lexie also placed second in the Southwestern Preparatory Conference Cross Country State meet, as well as second in the Texas Southern Relays in the 1600.
When Lexie’s not kicking up dust, she also enjoys staying active in her community. Joining 250 other volunteers, Lexie participated in the “Kinkaid Branches Out” project helping plant 1,200 trees in Memorial Park. She also spent three weeks this year assisting senior citizens with their daily activities.
Somehow, Lexie still manages to hang out with her friends and family and catch a movie every once in a while. Lexie Ammons, you’re off to a great start, and we are proud to call you this month’s absolutely! Memorial High School Hot Shot.
