The Houston West Chamber of Commerce Women Driving Business (WDB) Series, presented by Women’s Memorial Hermann Memorial City, held its annual luncheon at Lakeside Country Club on Friday, September 18th. The luncheon was hosted by Dr. Shel Wellness & Medical Spa, GBH, CPAs, PC and The Wink Law Firm, PLLC.

Mary Sue Koontz-Nelson, Texas legend, author of the cookbook Stolen Recipes and the very first WDB speaker, headlined the luncheon. A spry 83 year-old Koontz-Nelson indulged her audience with hilarious stories from her time at the HK Ranch, but the common thread was an eloquent and important reminder for attendees: Tomorrow is not a guarantee. Taking chances, living in the moment and eliminating the negative aspects of life are the key to ensuring people don’t find themselves in a rocking chair one day, wondering what might have been.

Women Driving Business is a series of uniquely inspirational business events intended to provide opportunities to connect and promote key West Houston women business owners and “C” level corporate executives. The Houston West Chamber of Commerce is home to an area of more than 8,000 businesses responsible for West Houston’s exponential growth in industries, such as oil and gas, manufacturing, technology, retail, medical, engineering and service firms and employs more than 100,000 people.
