Spring Branch Education Foundation Hosts Running for the Arts 5K and ArtFest

The winning Running for the Arts 5K ArtFest artwork created by Memorial High School junior Suzanna Jinks will be featured on the event T-shirts.

To celebrate its 25th anniversary, Spring Branch Education Foundation’s (SBEF) Running for the Arts is on the move with a new name and location. On Saturday, May 6th, runners will gather from 8 am to 1 pm at the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum, located at 901 Yorkchester on the campus of Westchester Academy for International Studies.

“Moving to this gem of a museum is a wonderful opportunity to expand into a true arts festival,” said Cece Thompson, SBEF executive director. “All of the district’s fine arts programs – visual arts, music, theater and dance – will participate.” Community artists and artisans will be involved too.

The morning will be action packed with a competitive 5K, 5K walk, Kids 1K, kids’ activities, performances, food trucks, art-related vendors and garage bands. Proceeds will benefit SBISD fine arts field trips, the Altharetta Yeargin Art Museum and the Health Fitness Teachers Association, whose members helped organize the run.
